Hadrian Elevates Customer Experience for Stronger Manufacturing Partnerships
In 2018, Hadrian wanted to make its Project Center application more accessible. Wepoint designed and developed the new version: Project Center Next.
All core features of Project Center have been retained while the user experience has been significantly enhanced, making it easy to use regardless of prior experience. Since its launch, our experts have been working to develop even more key features.
Key Technologies
- Front-end Development: Vue.js, TypeScript
- Back-end Development: .NET Core, C#, Microsoft SQL Server, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
The Project Center Next Web Application
Project Center Next significantly reduces the time required for quote production, technical drawing and documentation, while ensuring order accuracy. This added efficiency enables Hadrian distributors to better support architects, designers, contractors, and facility owners throughout the project process.
Key features of Project Center Next include:
- Real-time project design: User-friendly, the platform allows users to quickly design their projects and customize them. It provides a wide range of styles and configurations with advanced drawing features that integrate the company’s product catalogs, while delivering fabrication pricing and lead time in under a minute.
- Drawing and quote system: The software integrates fully modifiable plans built on a wide selection of common configurations, enabling all calculations to be performed dynamically by moving parts with the cursor directly in the browser. In parallel, the application automatically generates the necessary Bill of Materials and real-time, client-specific pricing for each piece.
- Time savings for the user: On the user side, the new platform provides a detailed quote and complete plans, including elevation plans and material specifications, shareable with architects and contractors. Through integrated APIs, accurate delivery costs can be included in the quotes, based on a validated shipping address.
- Integrated platform: The platform is connected to the company’s JD Edwards ERP. Result: Orders placed online by internal and external users are sent directly to one of Hadrian’s manufacturing facilities, while the billing and delivery cycle is managed automatically.
- Optimal accessibility: Unlike its predecessor, initially designed as a locally installed desktop app, the software was translated into a web application. Project Center Next is now available anywhere, anytime, ensuring that users always access the most up-to-date version.
Optimizing the User Experience
As the previous application had been in use for several years, we optimized this new tool, taking into account existing usage logic and habits, in addition to conducting user research. Since its launch, our UX and UI design experts continuously improve the user experience based on user feedback.
For example, when designing the new version of the Lockers configurator, we focused on lowering cognitive load while preserving productivity. After mapping real workflows, we identified two distinct user profiles: seasoned power‑users who rely on familiar patterns, and novice users who prefer guided, digital-first experiences. We then designed a dual-path interface to serve both. The result is a cleaner, faster configurator that reduces errors, shortens onboarding time and lets each user choose the workflow that best fits their needs, to be able to generate an accurate quote faster than ever.
Managing a Large Volume of Business Rules
This challenge, coupled with a strong demand in real-time, required translating nearly half a million lines in an Excel spreadsheet into simpler, generic rules, while ensuring their accuracy, to design flawless plans for factory production. After transcribing technical drawing rules, the team also made available configurations required by construction laws and standards specific to states and provinces, ensuring every design can be brought to compliance with confidence. The platform strives to support all these regulatory requirements, reflecting an important reality of the construction industry, and allows users to design projects aligned with the building-code specifications of their territory.
Managing Real-time Delivery Options
Despite the complexity of Hadrian’s products, Project Center Next can manage online delivery options and provide dependable fabrication and delivery lead time estimates. Since May 2023, a new feature was added to also enable external customers and customer service agents to request order expediting if needed.
Results
Embraced enthusiastically by both existing and new users, the many improvements of Project Center Next greatly facilitate project design, obtaining a detailed quote, placing orders, and choosing shipping options.
As evidence:
- 10 months after its launch, the voluntary adoption rate was 90%.
- +250,000 projects managed
- 90% of quotes submitted through self-service
- +321% new users
- +100,000 parts custom-assembled
Internally, the platform’s user-friendliness and successful integration have increased staff productivity and significantly reduced the risk of human errors.
Mission accomplished: The new platform not only retains customers but also differentiates Hadrian in a highly competitive market. Moreover, Wepoint is already working to develop advanced features and new product lines to strengthen the manufacturer’s leadership.
It has been a real pleasure to innovate with Hadrian over the years and help them remain industry leaders. In addition to all the projects needed to support new product lines and operations, our team is always looking for ways to optimize and streamline processes. It’s both very motivating and rewarding for us. We are proud to carry out many other projects with them!
