Cybersecurity: Preparing for Technological Disruption Today
AI, autonomous agents, quantum computing and digital sovereignty: Wepoint shares insights with La Presse on the risks organizations need to anticipate.
Artificial intelligence, autonomous agents, quantum computing and digital sovereignty are rapidly reshaping the cybersecurity landscape. In an article published by La Presse, Marcellin Nachin, Cybersecurity Leader, and Eric Périon, Cybersecurity Partner at Wepoint, discuss the risks associated with these developments and the steps organizations need to start taking.
Artificial intelligence is already accelerating how cyberattacks are prepared and carried out. It makes it possible to analyze and exploit vulnerabilities faster, while creating new attack surfaces, including model poisoning and prompt injection. To keep pace, organizations need to integrate these same technological capabilities into their detection, control and protection mechanisms.
Governing Emerging Risks Before They Take Hold
With agentic AI, organizations must govern systems that can operate autonomously and access multiple tools and sources of information. Access governance, data protection and clearly defining the scope of an agent’s actions must therefore be addressed from the outset. At the same time, quantum computing is creating a risk that already exists today: encrypted data can be intercepted and stored in the hope of decrypting it in the future.
Digital sovereignty also raises questions about vendor dependency and control over strategic data. As these technologies evolve, organizations need to maintain strong cybersecurity fundamentals while preparing for the next wave of risks related to AI, cryptography and emerging attack surfaces.
